Dear Prospective Members,
My name is Kylie Werk, and I am the current Vice President of Membership for Florida Blue Key Leadership Honorary Society, Florida’s most prestigious leadership honorary society. Since its founding in 1923, Florida Blue Key has been at the forefront of student leadership not only at the University of Florida, but also at city, county, and statewide levels. Throughout our history, Florida Blue Key has produced an impressive number of prominent alumni, including ten Governors of Florida, numerous U.S. Congressman, and two Heisman Trophy winners. Today, members of Florida Blue Key continue to uphold the highest standard of leadership among the students of the University of Florida.
Student leadership doesn’t stop upon acceptance into this prestigious society, however, as Florida Blue Key is responsible for a number of the major student organizations on campus. First and foremost, Florida Blue Key is responsible for the planning and production of Gator Growl, the nation’s largest student-run pep rally. Additionally, Florida Blue Key runs the University of Florida Homecoming, the Speech and Debate Tournament, and the Miss University of Florida Pageant. Moving forward, Florida Blue Key plans to continue the success of its current productions while expanding further into the realm of Florida politics and public policy.
In order to sustain our prolonged success, Florida Blue Key relies heavily on reaching out to the best of University of Florida’s up and coming student leadership to fill the ranks of our new tapping class each semester. With that said, we encourage students from all organizational backgrounds to take the opportunity to apply once applications become available later in the semester. On behalf of all of the past and present members of Florida Blue Key, I am beyond excited to see the diverse array of leadership experience that this year’s pool of applicants has to offer, and I know that with your help Florida Blue Key will continue to make great strides forward as one of the main institutions of this great University. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions you may have.
Thank You, and Go Gators!
